Annual Giving

In 1990, in answer to the rising cost of education, the St. Gabriel School Board initiated an annual giving program for the school. It is part of a comprehensive program that seeks to secure the necessary support to sustain and advance our school program. This program reaches beyond school parents to alumni and alumni parents.
Today, tuition covers about 79% of the actual cost of each student's education. Annual Giving provides approximately 14% of the school's annual income that comes from sources other than tuition and Extended Care. Without Annual Giving, this income would need to come from elsewhere, possibly through increased tuition.
Parent Annual Giving
Parent Annual Giving is the first component of Annual Giving. All parents are asked to participate in annual giving through a pledge of prayers and thoughts for St. Gabriel School throughout the school year. Parents are asked to consider a monetary pledge as well.
Program Goals:
It is the community of St. Gabriel saying prayers in thanks for or being thoughtful of our blessings and that we are able to meet our challenges. It lends a unique and valuable form of support to St. Gabriel. It is the power of positive thinking.

Program Goals:
- Our goal is 100% Parent Participation! All families benefit from annual giving. Therefore, all families are asked to participate.
- Prayerful/Thoughtful Support affords all parents the opportunity to participate in Parent Annual Giving. A pledge of prayers and/or thoughts for St. Gabriel School throughout the school year is made in lieu of or in addition to a monetary pledge.
- Parents consider whether or not a monetary pledge is possible. Monetary pledges provide an important source of income for the school budget.

What are the benefits of annual monetary giving vs. raising tuition?
- Contributions are tax-deductible. Tuition is not.
- Contributions may be matched through employer matching gifts programs. In 2009-10, matching gifts added nearly $9,000 to the school’s operating budget.
- Contributions are made at a level that is chosen. Parents give generously but not necessarily equally to the school.
- Parents may designate where their contribution will go.
