Dear Parents, September 2014 I am the new Chair of the St. Gabriel Parent Organization, for the 2014-2015 school year. We would like to welcome all of our former parents and our new parents. The parent organization helps with school functions and fundraisers throughout the year. These school functions and fundraisers help current school parents, children, alumni and parishioners come together and get to know each other or catch up on old times. The funds raised help to make improvements to the school, which benefit our children. Some of the funds that were raised last year by the St. Gabriel Parent Organization and the Parent Annual Giving Program were used to: purchase an additional 32 iPad Airs and a cart for the upper grades, re-stripe the lines in the playground, and will pay for 1/3 of the new fence that will be installed very soon. Many of the fundraising events have increased in size with more activities and higher attendance. These events are able to succeed because of the parents that volunteer. The St. Gabriel Parent Organization wants to thank all parents that volunteered last year. We are looking forward to a fun filled year again during the Jog-A-Thon, Book Fairs, Santa's Breakfast, Crab Dinner/Dance, Spaghetti Dinner, a two day Spring Carnival and many other events. We invite all parents to please volunteer at one or more of the school's activities to ensure success! When we volunteer as parents, we set a good example for our children by helping our community. Volunteering also helps us meet other parents from the school that we may have not met yet. Many of these events are for fundraising, but they are also ways of getting the St Gabriel community to come together. We look forward to seeing all the parents at these school functions.
