​Welcome back to the 2016-2017 school year!

I’m Nora Sheriff, your Chair of the St. Gabriel Parent Board for this school year, and this is my 9th year as a parent at St. Gabriel School.  The Parent Board sponsors school activities, fund-raisers and family events throughout the school year to benefit the school and our community.  We need everyone’s involvement and engagement to continue our successful, fun fund-raising and community-building. 
 
There are many opportunities to participate throughout the year - in our children’s classrooms, with their athletic teams, and at events, beginning with the new parent breakfast on August 22, 2016, the International Food Fair, the Jogathon, and beyond.  Thank you to all our parents who have volunteered in the past, and welcome to new parents and new-to-volunteering parents!  We look forward to your participation for the benefit of our wonderful school.  Our role as parents in educating our children at home is important to our children, as is the role played by their teachers.  Our engagement in the St. Gabriel community is similarly important. 
 
As part of the St. Gabriel’s BLARES philosophy, our children are to be active participants and enthusiastic learners; that same philosophy should guide us as parents to actively participate in school events and enthusiastically engage.  This community will educate our children and guide their development into responsible citizens and kind individuals.  We should all embrace this philosophy and consider how and where to contribute time and effort, at the events above, Santa’s Breakfast, Casino Night or the Carnival or one of the many other events in between.  Every single parent has something unique and valuable to offer, and involvement by all parents in our community would guarantee a great school year!
